History

Hilton Head Shore Notes began with three women in 1997. Today, 30 women on the Island of Hilton Head in Beaufort County, South Carolina, share the fun of singing close harmony on a regular basis. We are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, which oversees the education, promotion, and preservation of a unique American art form, 4-part, a cappella singing. The Shore Notes are a performance chorus, singing throughout the community for all kinds of occasions including celebrations, shows, special events, church groups, private parties and care facilities.

We also produce an annual show with a portion of the proceeds going to local schools to augment their vocal music programs and for community projects emphasizing music education.  Proceeds are also shared with community service organizations such as Hope Haven and the Boys and Girls Club.  We have won the "Communities in Harmony Award" for involvement with schools and are proud of the services we can provide to the community.

Our members come from all walks of life - they are nurses, business women, accountants, social workers, homemakers... some are retired, others still work outside the home.  Our common interest, though, is in performing and sharing the fun of learning a cappella music in "close harmony" style.

We meet each week to rehearse. If you enjoy singing, come to a rehearsal to see what we are all about. We meet Monday evenings at 6:15 at Okatee Baptist Church, 5467 Okatie Highway, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
