The Hilton Head Shore Notes welcomes
Larry Mercer as its music director. Larry
is the choral director at Hilton Head High
School. His credentials include graduation
from Furman University with a degree in
Horn and work with the Beaufort County
Schools reaching back to 1977. He has been involved in musical
theater since the age of 17 at community, regional and professional
levels. His choirs at Hilton Head Middle School garnered three 1st
place awards at the 2000 Musical Adventures Festival in Orlando,
Florida. He was named "Teacher of the Year" that same year. His
Ensemble at HHHS has appeared for the National Urban School
Superintendents Convention , the South Carolina School Board
Association Convention, Disney's Christmas by Candlelight and the
South Carolina Rotary Club Convention. The HHHS jazz and show
choir, Our of the Blue, recently appeared at Lincoln Center as part
of the New York City Jazz and Show Choir Festival.
